What is delivered
Two things, both digital: a temporary phone number, and any verification message sent to that number while your order is open. Nothing is posted or shipped.
Each order covers one number for one service.
Getting the number
The number is shown in your dashboard, and returned by the API, as soon as the order is confirmed.
Listed prices and availability are cached supplier estimates. A number is assigned only when the order is placed, and allocation can fail. If no number can be assigned, the order does not go ahead and you are not charged.
Getting the code
When the app or website you are verifying with sends its message, the message appears on the order in your dashboard and is available from the order endpoint of the API.
How quickly that happens depends on the sender and the mobile networks in between. Some messages arrive in seconds and some take several minutes, so we do not quote a delivery time.
How long an order lasts
An order stays open for 20 minutes. The timer and expiry time shown on the order itself are the reference. Once the order ends, the number is no longer yours and later messages to it will not reach you.
If no code arrives
If no SMS arrives before the order expires, the charge is credited back to your account balance automatically. You do not need to contact us for this.
A code can fail to arrive because the sender chose not to send one, because the sender does not accept that number, or because a network along the way dropped the message. The credit applies whatever the reason.
What is outside our control
Other companies decide which numbers they accept, whether to send a code, and what happens to an account after it is verified. We cannot change those decisions.
Outages at mobile networks or upstream providers, and events beyond anyone’s reasonable control, can interrupt delivery. An order affected this way still ends with the automatic credit if no code was delivered.
Keeping track
Your order history shows each order’s number, service, country, state and any message received. Transaction history shows the matching charge and any credit.
If your browser or API client loses its connection while placing an order, check the order history before trying again, because the first request may have succeeded.
